lpg is a bi-product of making fuel from crude oil
therefore if oil prices are high then why not bump up lpg prices as well....even better for the fuel companies as lots more people run gas these days
Some LPG is a refinery byproduct, but most produced in Australia today is a byproduct of LNG and oil production (meaning most is not produced by the oil refiners or major international oil producers). Like most items, the price is governed by supply and demand - and when demand increases anywhere, the price goes up everywhere, subject to shipping costs. LPG is easily transported, unlike LNG, where very expensive shipping facilities are needed (terminals at both ends and the ships), so these are only provided with long term contracts - that since they were set years ago, have low (by current standards) prices.

I have got one thing to say THEIVING Basturds 79.9 here in the metro area of Perth. Not only am I being a good green person helping the enviroment by using gas I am now penalised for doing it..IT sucks.....
I complained many years ago when it went from 33cpl to 55 in 2 weeks but was told by govt depts too bad
Did I say it sucks..well it does. Maybe we should all complain as a group?
Brad:mad:
And they've got this $2000 LPG conversion grant now... I bet "they" are not going to watch and comment on the price rises!!! Just watch them go up!
A mate of mine manages a servo and used to say they didn't bother changing the LPG price cos there wasn't enough money in it to bother... diesel to i guess... maybe its more popular now with the grant, so they jack it up with the petrol...
But its still saving me money compared to petrol. Got 2 cars on gas, might be getting a 3rd. Just not saving as much as i was
Oh, while we're on the fuel topic:
Is anyone else aware that we are paying GST on the wholesale tax portion of our fuel? That's an extra 6cpl (or so) tax on a tax... and ITS AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT'S OWN LAWS!
WTF?
True?
From what I have read into LPG prices in the past, apparently Europe relies quite heavily on LPG for heating in their winter. This means that prices go up over our summer, but then fall again over winter. I have kept an eye on this over the last couple of years, and it does tend to happen. Although, like all fuels ATM, it won't quite come down to what it was last year. I am currently paying $1.10 p/l, and most of our supply gets sucked out of the earth pretty much right on my door step.
so why not just sneak over the fence and syphon some?
96c per litre here in Esperance. 30 + cents a litre dearer than Perth. My FIW worked for KleenHeatGas for many years and can not see any justification for the price difference. Even with freight should only be 2-3c a litre dearer.
It is a big con as is oil prices.:mad::mad::mad:
