That's impressive Dave! I've never got anywhere close! That's nearly 2 l/100 better than the official figures. Remarkable. What do you put it down to?
ok as of friday afternoon with about a 60/40 mix of city and highway driving carrying me, my basic recovery gear, not my tool box, the fridge my work bag and me for the city cycle then all of that plus connie, alex, alex's day bag, the fridge full and on +whatever the hell we bought at garage sales/markets Big Red returned 533km for 46.6l of diesel
using 530km and 47l of fuel for the maths thats 11.276595744680851063829787234043 K/L or 8.8679245283018867924528301886813 L/100Km.
And I still think IF i needed to I could wrangle a touch more out of her but Id probably only be doing that If I desperately needed every single inch out of the tank.

watching the boost gauge and the exhaust pipe in the rear vision mirror like a hawk, keeping a gentle foot and not being in a hurry for the fuel economy test.

Any fuel additives?
nope.... I put in about 50ml of the diesel snot killer every service but since that was just on 9K Km ago Im pretty sure that most if not all of it would have been gone by the time I got to doing the testing.

It's amazing isn't it. The biggest hasle with mine is inly using 5mm to a cm of the peddle because you don't want to go faster.
The intercooler and exhaust should have quite a difference to.
Watch your rear half shafts![]()
thats about what I get when Im just driving "nice" when I drive for fuel effeciency tho I dont go that quick. and I dont run the aircon.

The experts saying that the vehicle is more efficient with the air con on and the windows closed than the air con off and windows opened.
Are you driving with the windows closed and air con off in QLD ?
How many beers per 100 km are you consuming ?
Cheers
that might be true in a car that has even a notional attempt at areodynamics but when your vehicle is shaped like a shed it makes no difference...
I also heard that so did a little experiment. I sat on a given speed and shut the vents and the windows then eyeballed the boost gauge... with the windows down and the vents open there was no appreciable difference. when I hit the aircon I needed an extra pound of boost on the gauge to maintain the same speed.
on a turbo diesel if your making more boost your making more power if your making more power your burning more fuel.
