Some good ideas there. I think your Ftp site could be a goer, if the files area doesnt work. I suppose if possible keeping it in the forum would be sensible.

File names are an interesting one...

possibly have a folder structure like

    Defender
    110
    Protection

Then the file called 'Rock Sliders 110'

Few potential issus tho including, what happens when we get more than one type of 110 rock slider!

Also if a product can fit both say RR Classic and Disco 1, say a long range tank, would you put that in both...

Subscribers only could be good too, but so far, you and I arent and we have the cad software lol!

Also possibly need to have a caveat on the drawings saying that the person who sketched the item and who ever drew it in CAD, and also the site ar not rsponsible for any errors / ommisions etc etc...

    Pete
Yeah file names / drawing numbers are a hard one here.. unless we have a list with all the drawings on (ie a drawing register) and the files are numbered. cross referencing the list then gives you the drawing number. I always find giving files 'names' gets a bit awkward eventually.

i have a few pre-done borders that can be reworked, and no doubt shared. maybe with the aulro logo on (need incs approval im guessing here) and yes i would suggest that we have the following.

    • Revision History including date of last rev
    • Date drawn
    • original design by (gives credit here)
    • drawn by
    • full material specs (but can be put on drawing)

good idea to categorise the drawings but can be an issue when sharing designs through models. again a list maybe a better way to do this? As we will / are drawing them then its up to us how we keep the models / drawing files named as this is also another subject.. and yes it really is sounding like work now!

did you say you were on solidworks? i'll probably be using pro-e or inventor.. but data exchange shouldnt be a problem!

    Thanks

    Steve

i tried to keep it alive but not much activity of late

pete has done a great job of the sliders that i measured, i think he has a little bit more work on the assmebly for the manufacture side of thing

the 3D software is wild and it was free

it does require a bit of time and effort....that the problem, need members to get out there and measure things up

would like to thank pete for his help on the sliders, no help to me but would be to somebody with a 110 without sliders

slider plans wouldn't go astray for me personally actually!

the sill tanks I can do without as I've already got one (plus a long range rear tank)...

keep up the good work lads (wish I could help).

I have the drawings I made of the 40 litre (approx) sill tank I had on my '86 RR.

This is it: Ron's Range Rover Classic Modifications

(the pic was taken to show the value of mollasses as a derusting agent. The LHS has been dipped, the right is still rusty.)

There's a RH qtr tank in my V8. I know the fitter had a job getting it in there he told me so, but I'll see if I can get at it enough to measure up.
