Hi, i would buy the deisel, more economical than the v8. If you do offroading the difference in price, plus fuel savings would get you a winch, a locking diff, etc.
The lower mileage V8, of course!![]()

TDI
Cheaper to buy and cheaper to run. Price difference would buy a lot of spares.
I think the v8 is way over priced.![]()

I think the V8 is possibly the better buy.
The V8 if serviced properly, will go & go & go. The Tdi needs regular expensive maintenance. Pumps & injectors, heads every 150,000 kms etc. The cost of running evens out over time.
And check what's been done - or not done - to the Tdi. If it has been freshened up recently, go for it. If not, I'd say the V8.

Firstly, I did not say "moronic diesel owners", they are your words.
Secondly, not all diesel engines do high mileages without problems and neither do V8's. However there is a huge difference in the cost of repairs
I'm quite happy to run a V8 on LPG and reap the benefits of the difference in fuel costs, longevity and a savings in repairs. If you do the sums, the extra thousands saved in diesel repairs, buy a hell of a lot of LPG![]()
