The 8.3l is the diesel only. I didn't bother calcing the lpg as both times I have filled it up so far has been around $6 to top it up. Must be a really small tank. As it's only augmenting the air supply rather than running on it I suppose the amount squirted in must be quite small. I am happy about the fact that the diesel burns cleaner and a supposed small boost to power. Hard for me to comment on that as I have nothing to compare it with. It came with it. I could turn off the lpg for a while I suppose.
Not sure if that is a fair comparison as Ron's figures go back 6 years so some of the $/l are at 2002 prices and some at 2008. Your sums used only 2008 prices so will be higher (which just reinforces that your figures are lower).
If you want to extrapolate from your current consumption to compare with Ron's detailed actual figures then find out what the 2005 prices were and use them (assuming a linear increase in fuel cost).
Or ask Ron to work out the Nett Present Value of his fuel investments.
