How many out there are paid subscribers to AULRO and the forum and what advantages does paid subscription bring???

Well there are quite a few out there who have a paid up 'membership'

The benefits - well it helps keep this site going

Plus you do get extended storage and larger mailbox

So if I don't want all the options and just remain as freebie user, there will be no quicklinks and search...... That effectively shuts out new lookers who would like especially to utilise the search capability. I would not have thought that was a very good idea as it will not engender good will.

Think you're missing the point 29dinosaur... Inc's not turning bits off just to penalise everyone, he is trying to work out what is sucking so much speed out of the site.

Trial and error is the only way to go unfortunately, and currently switching off that function is the current trial... the only really easy way to keep everything as it is would be a server upgrade but the subscriptions aren't getting close enough to pay for that, they're only covering costs of running the current server costs.

Not a sob story, just the way it is... this site is run by Inc but as you know, net access doesn't come free or cheap... and the bigger the site gets and the more users come on board the more load the site takes.

I must say not having the "new posts" button is frustrating, but I now know where it has gone and why now!

My poll post was raised as I didn't realise there was a subscription part to the site.... always thought the subs section was for special members who want to be club members as such and go out on tracks as a club ...... I'm just curious to know also as to how many other free loaders such as myself haven't paid up or read about the subscription components....
