A very rare successful LR day

Got up this morning and decided "hmm I'd like to fix that crappy auto selector" as it was starting to irritate me.

Checked the rimmerbros price for a new BTR9926LNF, 68 gbp. Rang a dealer and new price was ~ $220. Decided at this point "I'll take a break from study and drive (nearest to furthest) to FWDs, Lance Dixon, Range Rov, AMV, Ritters until I get one", full well knowing I was likely to return home empty handed. Turned up at FWD first, and amazingly they had a used one - dirty but in GC - 5.5 times cheaper than a new one.

Only difference was a slight change in the "font". (Does anyone know why? ). Just needs a bit of autoglym on it.

Put it all back together and took a test drive - big improvement, reaches full boost by 900 rpm, much quieter and managed another 250 k from a tank of diesel. I'm happy.

And no carbon fibre to be seen.

    How do they do it?

    Cheers

And the "still has a sense of humour" award goes to Simon

In other words I was being facetious in light of the multitude of posts lately that seem to contain the terms "spooling up faster" and "an extra 100k per tank" and other claims of unworldly performance with very little logical evidence

Now on a serious point - could someone with a late 97/98 Disco photo their shifter so I can see what "font" it has? pretty please
