Yeah, I agree. It is as much my fault as it was the other guys. A the end of the day I was given a hint of what he was like when he kissed my bull bar and then I hooked up again. Good way to learn a lesson.

While I could kick up all sorts of a fuss and start sending bills and what not, he didn't have to help me and his car also copped some damage from the recovery. So I have to keep in mind that he was there to help.

If I met him in the bush and he return the favour I would without a joke get the hammer out first.

Smash what he did on your car and then hook up and do a proper recovery.

When he cracks it about why you hit his car with a hammer Id tell him that you wanted to return the favour completely and not just recover him.

As far as people not helping out etc, if I damaged someones car I would expect to have to pay regardless of if I was recovering him or not, if it were my fault from something I did then that is why I have insurance and it should be expected if your going to do something stupid.

I have been in 1 recovery where I should have given up a bit earlier than I did and that was with Sschmez, Rangieman and others but no damage was done to any vehicals just a bit too much to the track than I expected which wasnt all that noticable after some traffic.

If your prepared to ware it then thats up to you, but I wouldnt have worn it after he hit the bull bar.

You always have the choice of going back or winching and I would rather winch all night than damage my car.

To everyone bad mouthing the vehicle doing the recovery please stop.
I can not beleive what people are saying in this thread.

The only person at fault here, and in every case of 'random gets a random to recover their vehicle' is the person who owns the said stuck vehicle.

Sorry mate but it is your fault for getting yourself in that position in the first place, secondly not opting to winch out, thirdly not getting out to stop the whole mess when you realised the guy was going to get an 18 meter run up that started next to your car ... I would end it here but it seems you then took another step in the wrong direction buy letting this guy recover you twice. shame shame shame!

You get threads with people winging about not getting a thank you when you help recover someone, yet here in this very thread we have the exact opposite.

Yes the guy in the said recovering vehicle was a ****, but he did you a favour, conducted very poorly, but on his time...

Sorry if my post seems harsh, but I just can't beleive everyone has pointed the finger and said to report him bla bla bla, grow up, learn from yours and others mistakes and don't ever get a big patrol with huge 37" trepadors and a 6L V8 to recover you

    Kind regards

    And before anyone gets a chance to take what i have said the wrong way I would liek to add the following;

Stirlsilver has the best attitude about the whole situation, he has summed it up and accepted part fault which is much better than some other may have done.

I hope you don't take what I said the wrong way, I know your a top bloke that made a silly mistake, and seems you learnt very fast, albeit at a slight cost to yourself.

I just had to make a rant to make sure others who see this thread will learn from it just as well as you did.

I am also probably jealous cause I never go offroad anymore, so even seeing recovery damage gets me all twitchy

Driving vehicles off road can be potentially damaging anyway...

HOWEVER, I agree that alarm bells should've rung when you were hooked up PARRALLEL with the tow vehicle

AND, I suspect that this 'manhood challenged' GU driver has 'issues' that are best left to himself to resolve, so best to keep away from this species in future when encountered, and wait for someone more sensible to come along. (But I have never been to this spot, so maybe it NEEDED a 250KW 37" shod vehicle to get up it? If so, then I apologise!)

SO all in all, I'm sorry your Landy got damaged, (but if we were off road racing it'd be 'that's racing mate!') ,and I'm impressed with your attitude in regard to the above event.

More people should think about both sides of the situation, and less agro may result.
