Just a question, if one of the competitors drowns does the other one have to drown at the same time or just in the same manner to gain maximum points

Remove any sport where the judges take into account your personality eg how well you smile, swing your hips or shake your booty.

The floor routine at the gymnastics annoys me when they have just done something amazing but then have to do a little dance and pull some artistic pose.

Watched a bit of the rumanian and hungarian ladies handball last night, didn;t even know that was sport.( of course it was on sbs)

and swimming and athletics is boring.

Wonder how the team organisers will get on with the next level of funding for london, I am sure the slightly overstated their medal predictions.

May not appeal to most of us, but it does have technical merit and who are we to say what should and should not be included. I think most legitimate international sports passtimes should be included and they should go back to the non proffessional rules.
Softball is being dropped after these games and they are considering putting in golf. Go figure.
At the end of the day are rifle shooters real sportsmen?? No real physical effort only a good eye and reflexes and I love shooting.

I wonder what long term career syncronized swimmers look like?

Check out "Chopper Sports" talking about Commonwealth Games - sums it up to me Athletics - that's regular sport with all the good bits taken out
Little Athletics - that's for children that can't catch or kick

The Olympics should be about athletics, etc. and it should be the pinnacle of your sport.
If Federer or Nadal lose Wimbeldon or the Aussie open, they wanna neck emselves. If they lose the Olympics they dont care.
Soccer in the olympics? Its not even the best players

Ok, some of these "sports" take a lot of skill, and hard yakka, but they're not Olympic sports.

    Lets' see
Synchro swimming - what a load of wallop. How is a bunch of tarted up water ballet a sport?

BMX & Mountain Biking? What the? That's a way for a 12yo to get to the shops or something to do on a Sunday arvo!

Basketball? C'mon that's not an Olympic sport. Those overpaid homeboys get too much exposure as it is.

Sailing? That's not even a sport! Just a bunch of wallys going round and round

Trampoline!?- That's a play device, what next, slippery dip and swing events?

Softball? That's an underarm girls picnic sport

Are they gunna bring back Cricket & Rugby (the USA are the current gold medallist).

Go back to the "old" olympics, true athletic events or battle contests - blokes competing in the nude, to win a tree branch!

I was talking to a bloke here about it yesterday, apart from the relevance of the olympics.
Sync swimming and a handful of other "sports".....please!!!!!

I lost interest in the olympics when the athletes became professionals. How do the poor buggars from African, Asian, European & South American countries compete against the big medal factories like us who throw millions of dollars at our athletes to gain glory for them and a slight feel good effect for us.
Never mind the fact that kids are dying of preventable diseases in remote and even not so remote communities in this country.
Never mind the poor state of our roads and education etc.etc.

    We are winning gold medals!!!!!!!!!
