Well, looks like it has finished. At least for the moment. There was one last furious burst of rain, not long before sunset, then the sun came under the clouds just before it set, giving a perfect double rainbow, and then a beautiful red sunset as the sun lit up the underside of the clouds.

I took advantage of a bit of a break to go and feed the dog - and gave him plenty of food. Checked their rain gauge - 260 points, or 65mm. Had a bit of a drive around, not too much erosion, most of it seems to have just sunk into the ground - not surprising considering how dry it was.

Good to hear all is well.
    Still raining for us.
I have triped the flood pump trigger 4 times so far today to clear the build up out. Can hear the neighbours tanks running onto the ground above us to so it's going to be slop for days.

Total of 59.5mm. Next door had 65 and there is a report from near Dunedoo of 90mm. If that was at all widespread, we can expect the river to be up, perhaps nearly to flood level, and certainly over the crossing, in a week or so.

Great stuff, we have a place at Elong Elong, not far from Dunedoo.
Rain is always welcome out there.
    Cheers, Bundalene

As long as it doesn't get to the stage of being 'rooned' due to the rain! Great poem on the stereotypical Aussie cockies view of the world.
An old mate of mine, once a publican, now retired, wanted to get the Durham Hotel at Wingen, just so he could re-name it "The Wingen Cockie".

We keep an eye on the same website on the Talbragar River heights too, as we have to cross a causeway over that river to get to our place. Anything over about 1 meter needs serious consideration...or a detour round the back way through Ballimore or via Mendooran and the forest tracks through the back.
What a small world it is. Nice to see others are keeping an eye on this website as well.
And yes, there are some splendid sunsets...and rainbows... and starry, starry nights out there also.
Even though we don't live there, we have been getting out there as often as we can & enjoying our special part of the bush for around 20 years now.
    Thanks, Bundalene
