    I tell lies....just misinformation

Our first recorded brewer was a John Boston, who brewed uo some stuff in the 1790's, he used malted maize and and leaves and stalks from the Cape Gooseberry for bitters.
The Hit & Miss brewery in Hamilton Tasmania was one of the first recognised, brewing from 1850-1881
William and Ralph Foster arrived in australia from New York and launched Fosters Lager in 1889.
There were by 1889, 307 breweries in australia and by 1980 only 20. there are now 90 plus boutique breweries operating.
    I just love this subject.
