The Donaldson pre-cleaner at around the $40 mark would be the go - keep more dust and bugs out of your air filter too.
Ok ok, no need to say it three times
Yeah i agree tjm and arb just name the prices and people will still buy them
On ebay you can get a safari head for around $50...Just a little bit cheaper and they would still be making a good profit.

I just had a look and want to ask, did you seal around where the snorkle goes into the guard or have you provided drainage for the water that will most likely end up in the bottom?

Looks a hell of a lot neater that running on the outside of the guard but that does concern me a little.

Following on from Pete /Psimpson7's comment about one problem with a 3 inch combined roll cage upright and snorkel tube on a Defender: He notes this size pipe will not fit between the wing skin and bulkhead footwell.

Sometimes before doing modifications or additions it is necessary to do other modifications to accomodate them. On my Defender, have already modified the air intake to make access to the right side of the motor easier. Moved the air cleaner to behind the motor similar to Isuzu. First half of two piece air cleaner-turbocharger hose connects it to turbocharger. Air cleaner canister intake is pointed upwards and second half of this hose with right angle connected to it. Extra 2 and three quarter inch tube goes straight over brake pedal housing , which has had a bit cut out to allow sufficient space for it under the bonnet. Also piece cut out of rear corner of bonnet. Intake pipe goes out to where the rollcage/snorkel upright would go and round a right angle into it.

With this setup, 3 inch tube is only necessary above the wing and whatever is structurally appropriate to support a roll cage can be used under it. The tube can be located behind the windscreen pillar from the driver's viewpoint to minimise obstruction to vision. Also, as well as not having another separate roll cage pillar beside it, there would be no snorkel pipe going down the side of the wing into the standard intake hole.

Other bonuses from this: Probably slightly increased air flow through the radiator because air can now escape through what was the air intake hole in the wing. Also. probably better air flow into air cleaner because the smaller standard plastic intake tubes have been dispensed with.

Just priced up some S/S for a snorkel...... it is 76mm dia. Any learn'd members have a take on whether it would have a big enough dia for airflow to be OK...

    is on a Defender 300Tdi

    Cheers
