You've got it EASY
You might remember that I have been chasing a vibration problem
Have over the last 5 weeks done the following

Removed and repacked & re-tensioned all wheel bearings
Removed & replaced the Transfer case
Removed & installed a temp rear diff / waiting to get the diff man to repair it
Removed & replaced the Transfer case
Replaced front & rear Output bearings on the Transfer case
Removed & replaced Output shaft on the Transfer case
Removed and checked the preload on the front C/V swivels
Removed & checked the front C/V's
Rechecked & re-tensioned the front wheel bearings
Replaced rear Gearbox mounts
Replaced front Engine mounts

Replaced the studs on the exhaust manifold
Removed the exhaust 2 times

And after all that .... I still got the vibration :mad:

That foreman must be hiding in my ride somewhere .... Cause I have also taken both those tailshafts off half a dozen times :mad:

And Heres the best part :(

TONIGHT .... I am gonna take that front one off again so I can get it checked for balance at a engineering shop .... Because if it's not that then It's the front Diff .... And you know what that means as far as the next job to do ;)

For me it would have to be the four bolts that hold the front quarter panel of a Defender onto the fire wall, times like these I wish I was about 5 again.

Because FFS took me ages to get them in (big hands) :censored:

But was all good in the end :)

I would have to say after yesterdays effort of fitting the rear BA132 rear wheel carrier to the defender.

That bottom bracket was a real pain in the you know what I dont know how many times I dropped the nut when I was trying to thread it to the back of the bolts.

There is no room to fit your hands in the back of that cross member to fit those nuts but I got there then trying to fit a spanner in there to hold the nut while it used the rattle gun on the bolts.

My fingers have lost a little skin but it was worth it :D...

I generally find my Disco easy to work on. Base model MY95 V8.

However two dodgy points are the pillar tail lights and changing globes. Painful in a 5 seater. Hell in a 7 seater.

Also adjusting the steering box. The air con compressor covers it perfectly. Luck I have long arms so I can reach around things from both sides. Also I literally a bit of a contortionist. Inc maybe you need me to do your brake light switch!

As for the RRC propshaft bolts, they must be different to a Disco1 as they are easy as. Transfer in neutral and put the rear (or front if you doing that end) on stands. Use a 3/8 drive socket set (can use 1/2in but 3/8 easier) and spin the propshaft around by hand and put the handbrake on as you undo or tighten each nut. Bolts are captive.

For me, it's not the drivers door handle on my 110 that jams in the up position if you don't give it a reciprocal thump after opening the door, allowing it to bounce open again;

and it's not the front parking lights making such bad contact in their sockets that they only work on days with an "E" in them;

and it's not the heat that eminates from the two exhaust pipes that run under the floor, causing temperatures in excess of 50 degrees on a hot day;

and it's not the water that comes in the vents when it rains if i don't shut them properly;

and i couldn't say that the hand brake switch never having worked has bothered me;

the heat that comes off the metal part of the handbrake that rests against my leg is just somethings i have to deal with;

but the thing that mostly annoys me is the boot over my hi/low range lever that lives on the front of the driver's seat box, evrytime i put it into low range, the boot pops out of the seat box wall and i either get buckets of water in if i'm crossing a river or blasts of hot air as i'm driving!

i hate the corrossion that has eaten the floor pan on my tdi too far gone to fix so now i have a td5 to fix up [ love that though!]
