Wipers on my Defender.....
Or should I call them Smearers
To get those front fender bolts out you need the hands of a child and the strength of Sampson..... Plus a few tubes in the fridge helps
The MAGIC word ...... "Socket set" .... Does not apply here ;)
Try 9/16 spanner & a 14mm spanner that have been ground down in body size with nip turns being the order of the day ..... AND they are all "nylon lock nuts" which I have had to replace .... once the spanners have started to round the edges off them :(
Thank god for my sense of humor ;)
Well, has anyone tried to bolt the ECU's back in when they fall out on to the passengers feet of a D2?
It is an absolute mission........the stealers cant do it properly.
I havent changed one but i bet the thermostat is also nice & easy to change......not:(
AARRGGHHH RUST!!!! The bloody chassi in my IIA 109 is like swiss cheese
My kingswood has the same water drip on accelerator problem when raining...
I work on Japanese machines so I find everything on my defender and Disco easy. Pat
D2 Td5:
- oil filter, sorry is it just me? It has to be one of the most ludicrous locations I've ever seen! And the back bolt on the heatshield, whose brilliant idea was that? Aaaarrgh!
- shuttle valve/abs sensors (read: 3 amigos), oh just bloody work properly will you! We can land men on the moon, rovers on Mars (hmm, they stop working there too ;) ) but can we make a few teeny weeny computers and bits of machinery in a D2 work? No freakin way. :(
- climate control blend motor. No the superheated air that emits from the driver's side centre console foot vent is not required in summer and neither is the seared calf I get when I forget and try to rest my leg against the console
Mike
I hate the stupid electric window panal and the handbrake boot on a pre-94 modal d1, the stupid things keep coming out of there place:mad:
Oh and also as said the drip on the foot in wet weather and the lowrange boot.
TIM.
Hate... well I dont hate much of it :) but my wipers anoy me when it rains - you need to turn them on then (sometimes) give them a "push" start. The Holden carby does give me the sh*ts at times, so does the rattle in the sliding windows and the water in the cab during heavy rain :( . But then ..... I just love the old thing :D:D:D:D and wouldn't up-grade olmate at all.
I was told once that you love them as much as you hate them - I reckon thats about right ;)
