    Demerit point offences - search

These are for NSW, but the scheme is supposed to be national (and I assume it is, making references to trams)

This one was interesting for 9 points and $1269

Ride motorcycle with 4 or more unhelmeted passengers (rider not helmeted) $1269

At the risk of being accused of racism.... my wife saw riders like that in Vietnam.

After 23 years of driving I got my first ever speeding fine two years ago while out on the motorbike. 112 in a 100 zone. Way out in the country and not a car in site in any direction, other than the police car that zapped me. $110 and one point. No leniency for a clean record. As I drive for a living I was quite proud of a clean record. Gone now though.

Click on the attached link and go to my postg on the first page where you will find a sample letter that I and others have used and it has never failed, providing you qualify for a caution. Use it if you like or just take some ideas from it. Remember, you have to admit the offence, you cannot ask for a caution and at the same time say you didn't do it anyway. If you need any other advice then PM me dude. Lets just say that I aahhh .... work in the industry .....

By what you've said, that is utterly ridiculous Policing.

As a side note, they're not supposed to check someones traffic or criminal records to decide whether or not to prosecute - that intruduces prejudice which is something we don't want. Although demerit point (alleged 'safety')offences are not to be dealt with by 'caution' (Commissioners directive), surely at worst a reasonable fellow would stop you for a chat...

It disappoints me hearing those stories and yes, a clean driving record is something to be very proud of, particularly for a professional driver who sees and puts up with all manner of woeful driving.

Sad to hear of that mate.

    Matt.
