I liked the cars we built at GM-H Pagewood about 1970 for the ACT police. HT Kingswoods in nice metallic colours with white roofs, looking just like a public servant's pride and joy. BUT!!!! They had 350 Chev's, 300 hp version as fitted to Monaro GTS350, GTS350 suspension & brakes, Salisbury slippery diffs, wide wheels, Aquajets, US police option autos which had close ratios and were beefed up totake abuse. Of course, the usual police options of wiring, speedo, etc. Not many were built and I wonder where they ended up. Very quick.

Foglights must be mounted in pairs, no less than 600mm apart.

The cops can use anything they want in any configuration they like. When I was a courier they pulled me over one day in an old mazda ute with hay bails on the back, in toorak.

maddest one i ever experienced, was when i was in London as a commis chef, one night i came home to the staff accommodation and this bloke was asking for my mate@ 1A.M. bit suss i went and saw my mate Paul and asked him what the go was!
As some one started to try and boot the front door in.
I phoned the met and armed myself up with a sabatier and waited, next minute a Sherpa van with ladders on the roof, lunch boxes and flasks on the dash rocks up to a screeching halt outside. They start banging on the door i lent out the window and told em to **** off!
thinking it was the blokes from before i re-called the cops, these guys in the Sherpa were saying we are police i was not having it and asking them to leave in the strongest of language.
Turns out my mate paul was rooting one of the bad lads ex girlfriends and he didn't like it, and planned to kidnap him all very emotional hahaha

So saw the most bizzarre unmarked cop car today on Melb's eastern freeway; a white Falcon sedan. Can you believe it? FFS It's like they aren't even trying.

...I would have loved to see that in a high speed chase situation

A couple of years ago you may have got your wish (although not an unmarked) and a Td5

This was taken at the 2005 Louth Races

A while ago when I was a kid 770 Chargers were a regular site in SA along with Chrysler Regal V8s. Dad when he was a Highways Inspector had Chrysler Regal V8 Wagons.
I also remember VH-VL SS Commodores in the Goldfields.
The best was my Uncles private car that was also used for Federal Police duties, it was an XC Fairmont 351 tricked out and with hidden police lights that could not be seen normally.

The SA police also had a handful (10 or 12) of Chargers that Chysler had shoehorned the 360ci V8 into as a "Police Special" especially for the the SA Police. It was rumoured that the the first few had a habit of popping windscreens during hard cornering as a result of the torque through the body. As it was, they were impossible to drive in the wet and were rarely deployed in inclement conditions.

In the 90's there was a Porsche 911 ? charcial grey in colour that used to get around the highways in central west NSW.

The most unusual marked car was a Lotus Elise a year or two ago. Looked great!
