    Doesn't matter what colour you paint them, they are going to get bent inwards if you use a bridle, why didn't you weld them on with the holes pointing up and down, that way the shackle will align itself to the line of pull, Regards Frank.

    I thought of that afterwards, possibly thinking of rounding the inside of the holes out with a file or die grinder

    Here we sometimes have to put triangular stickers higher up on the vehicle pointing downwards indicating a tow-point is below. Comes in handy when the tow point is submerged in [cold] water or mud
