It always makes me laugh, on King Georges Road in Wiley Park there is a 60KPH stretch where the rest is 70KPH. Police often park in a side street and use the hand held LIDAR system. The only problem is that they are wearing their hi-vis "hit me" vests so you can see them well before the LIRAR's range.
My flatmate is a Occ Health & Safety consultant and one of his colleagues has become a WorkCover inspector. About 18 months ago the Police pulled him over for a minimal infringement and gave this guy the patronising lecture about the danger of speeding etc. The inspector accepted the ticket, then put on his WorkCover Hi Vis vest and issued the Police Officer a WorkCover infringement for not wearing his hit me vest when working on a road including the patronising lecture about the safety of the matter.![]()

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
They do the same on the New England Highway between Tamworth and Wallabadah.
There's a lane going into an old farmhouse that goes off the highway at a very acute angle facing south, and it's surrounded all around by Black Locust trees.
They just back into it and wait.....
Not much cover at this time of the year, but heavily used from spring through autumn by the HP.
Ron,
Not sure in NSW but if any of you are going to Taswegia then BEWARE!
The cameras are operated by civilians, They are concealed in unmarked vehicles of various different types and have also been seen with Camo nets over them in ditches on the side of the road.
Of course its not revenue raisingIn Tassie, you can drive from Hobart to Devonport, ( a total of about 300k) and it would not be unusual to pass at least 3 camera's and possible as many as 5. Of course all in the name of keeping you safe.
I see the camera's out here in NQ with their lil sign out n think "silly buggers" Like fishin without bait!![]()
Dont know where you were driving but have lived in tassie all my life and have often driven from Smithton to Hobart and not even seen a cop car, let alone a camo net speed cam (never seen nor heard of this). Tassie dosnt seem to have some of the rediculous speed limits other states have.
cheers
blaze
ps
they are only a problem if you are speeding (been guilty of it)
