Yup, got done in a similar fashion on Princess Hwy, where the section turns from a 110km/h zone to an 80km/h zone. The policeman clocked me going somewhat over the speed limit with a hand held, and managed to get into his car, catch up with me () and pull me over just 400m after the 80km/h sign (I checked as soon as he finished writing out the fine
)
The most likely place he was hiding was a little "dirt track" that's several meters long (made by his colleagues camping at the spot, no doubt) that was about 10m from the road sign.
And yes, I had to pay the fine. Luckily I was on a SA licence at the time, otherwise I would have been disqualified from driving for 3 months for that little excursion!!
Some other countries... lol, and South Australia!
I've seen the weelie bin cam on East Avenue (between Grange and Port Rds) on more than one occasion.
I believe SA police own two of these units and use them on streets where they can't inconspicuosly park their fine-mobil's. Never mind the security guard sitting on the fence, having a smoke and reading the paper!!
Cheers
