    LOL

It's like hitting concrete from 30 feet up.

About 6 times the density of air, but a lot less friction than a solid substance.
Stopping things that big can be a problem at times though, once they get moving they tend to follow the laws of inertia, and just keep doing what they are doing.

and the weight of the rope would make it appear to be slack.

Actually fresh water is closer to 800 (816.33) times the density of air.

It's all about speed. In low range, idling in first, no probs. However my guess is that the rope to the Landie is photoshopped in. I once moved a small ship by hand, standing on a wharf I noticed slackness in the mooring rope so I pushed hard for 5 minutes and it moved out six inches until the rope tightened. No wind or current to oppose me.

Nice thought, but any tension on the rope will eventually have the tug up against the wharf.- ( which is where the Deefer is limited to...) - the loud scraping noises and friction generated would spoil the event...

nahh, you could do offset thrust by jacking the tug around to comensate for the sideways pull from the deefer.

doing so pretty much negates any pull the deefer would be putting on the line.
