Hoping this does not contravene naughty language rules, but it is very funny and fathers of daughters may appreciate it.

Just thought I'd share this - our company has been heavily involved in this job. Around 5 weeks ago trains were running at ground level across these 3 streets - which are one after the other on this line for those that don't know. In 37 days, they stopped the trains, ripped up the tracks, dug down and under the 3 roads - all without stopping traffic - re laid the tracks, installed 2 new below ground stations, all new overheads and signalling. The trains are now running and one of the new stations are open - the other one opens at the end of this month. There is still a lot of finishing off to do but what a monumental effort. There's another 40 odd crossings going this way over the next 4 years but this is the first triple crossing removal of the project and was delivered on time - even in a very wet Melbourne Winter.

Brilliant!! Could you please come and show NSW how it's done?
Cheers, Billy.
Keeping it simple is complicated.
They are not in that big of a hurry at the Bayswater crossing. Might need time lapse photography to see any advancement. The other option that they are doing at Thompson rd Cranbourne is the road over the the rail line as in a bridge. Due to a very high water table. Apparently cheaper than submersible trains.

I compare this with one locally I watched, where a single track railway line was moved away from an intersection with the Newell Highway, so that a B-double would fit between the railway level crossing and the intersection.
Sounds like a simple job - but it took about nine months!

I should have probably mentioned that there was 6 months of pre works - the same as is happening in Bayswater - they spend a long time drilling and pouring piles along each side ready for the dig and preparing sites to marshall people and equipment during the occupation - the part shown in the video where they actually stop the trains to relocate the track. When that time comes where you are, you'll see a big difference in the activity level as the deadlines to meet on reopening the track are very strict.
