    Living History weekend

I had a very interesting weekend when a group i am associated with had a display at the Living History weekend at Fort Lytton.

never been to anything like it before and i was pretty impressed with the concept which i can best describe as "Playschool for Grownups"

just about every era from the romans to the modern day with a fair bit of the emphasis being on the military aspects but with a nice touch the feminine side of things as well.

Living history groups have always fascinated me, especially the medievil groups (and to an extent the military ones).

I'm attending an event later this year down here with teh DTHT which has a lot of living history groups attending called the Midlands Military Meet and Rendezvous. Home Page - The Midlands Military Meet and Rendezvous

i have friends in the UK that do re-enactments etc I used to do it with them...its great fun riding horses and having sword fights...you ever tried hitting a lettace on a stake while galloping towards it...its not easy thats for sure.

they have also been involved in a lot of films becasue of it

I think its great....and a lot of them take it right down to the finiest detail...great for kids to learn to

The event is open to any one, but if you want to display a vehicle you need to either contact MVC or any one of the groups that attend. There always keen to have a couple of vehicles there. The site to get your info from is historyalive.org.au note its usually held on the Queens Birthday weekend but due to being QLD150 is was pushed back. i also took a few pics between cannon firings.

didnt think to put it in events as it wasnt an aulro trip.

anyone can go and many thousands did.

if you want to display you need to be part of a formal group with liability insurance etc etc etc

a couple of the participants were hurt over the weekend by flaying swords so i can see why they insist on the insurance.

Iam sure that QLHF would help out with insurance as they do like having vehicles as they always atract the crowds, also most injurys that happened on feild wernt to bad for a change lol your more likely to get hurt worse playing footy that doing the combat.
I just had to take a pic of my tent at the event lol.
