    Tyre Pliers and Alloy Rims

Gday All,Has anyone used any of the tyre removal gear like tyre Pliers or others on Alloy Rims.Am looking at getting some but would like an honest opinion not retail sales hype as have been told that this sort of tool only works on steel rims.
    Thanks and Cheers Ean

Trust me they work but due care is required.

when you go to "throw" the rim back into the tyre remeber that the d2 rim has a deeper "dish" than a standard defender/series/alltheotherstheyfit steel rim and if you're not carefull you will bean your head on the backswing.

Buy the expensive set of tyre pliers that cover all rims from about 4 inches out to something like 19. while you're at it buy an additional tyrepliers tyre lever which is the long version of the double ended one in the standard kit.

To protect the alloy, use bits of thin rubber, such as cut up tube, between the rim and any lever. The rubber won't last very long so have plenty at hand. Also be careful what surface you place the rim on, a piece of carpet is good and comes in handy to lie on if you need to get under the car.
