But that looks to be a big piece of rope in the background as a carpark border... maybe shipping rope.. now I'm stuffed!

That was my first thought too, Willem. Also the van appears to have a WA rego plate, however most pubs in WA carry XXXX signage (the better ones anyway), and Emu is not restricted to WA. Not being a frequenter of Public Houses, I'm at a bit of a loss.

It is in WA. It has a somewhat unusual name (would be interested if anyone knows the name origins)

There is a sign at the entrance which says something along the lines of
"welcome to XXXXXXXXX
population:
8 people
6 dogs
4 galahs
12 budgies
and 10000000 kangaroos"

EDIT - Seems like the place started as an aboriginal mission - so the name is probably aboriginal.

HINT - closer to SA than it is to Perth.

Any bits of Skylab there?
