    Hi again,
If a defender rolls at some speed and sort of flicks over and lands on its side things don't get too bad,but when a defender flicks over and lands on its roof the momentum/forces will crush the roof.A roll cage will most likely save your life and make repairing you pride and joy much easer and you could most likely drive it home.

Totally agree the cast alloy windscreen frame breaks too easily. But, some roll heavy, others roll light.

All US spec defenders that were sold there came with an external cage from factory, the owners didnt fit them.

Does anyone have any pictures of a 110 wagon b pillar hoop that will not interfere with front seat head room, or rear passenger entry/exit?

I have a full length Camel Trophy rollcage by "Safety Devices" in the UK fitting to my County. If you're intersted in the details I'll post a few pics. The core of it is the twin hoops behind both front & rear seats, although the external cage in front of the windscreen adds front seat protection without obstructing the interior.

Let me know if you want some pics of one fitted. Google will point you at plenty of line drawings of the cage itself.

    Hey all,

Having a little trouble chasing down details on roll cages for a Defender 110 wagon. I've found a couple of examples:

Landrover Tuning :: Full External Safety Devices Roll Cage European Version Defender 110 with NAS underwing mounts, 5 Door - Protection Defender - Defender

Land Rover 110 5 Door Station Wagon Roll Cage

I'm looking for information about fitting one to a vehicle registered in NSW - I've searched RTA publications but to no avail. I've read the CAM's specs etc, but just want information about getting it done in NSW (Sydney) for a non-competition vehicle and being assured that it's all legal, above board.

I prefer external for a couple of reasons, but the main one being the added benefit of also being able to fix the roof racks to the cage rather than to the gutter/roof, and fixing lights to the front.

When I asked Bond Roll Bars about it - this is the reply the sent me, in total:

Sorry we don’t do external cages as they don’t work
    Regards

and that was it. Exemplary customer service advice presented in a well-reasoned argument clearly supported by relevant facts and evidence. Sheesh.

Does anyone have any real information they could point me to regarding the use of external roll bars on a Defender 110 wagon?

Has anyone fitted an external cage to their deefer that they would recommend?

Has anyone had any experience getting one through rego in NSW?

    Cheers,

    Duke
