guys on night shift from last night said this morning when we did shift change over it was very eery last night. At one point it was raining red blobs of mud and the road was like in a snow storm but mud instead of snow on the road.

Actually, in all seriousness it was raining mud in Orange this morning while on the way to work.

I kid you not, I have never seen anything like it before, and you would have to see it to believe it, but it was actually raining red mud. The entire way to work the windscreen wipers were pushing mud off the windscreen.

By chance I was in Melb that day and so was my grandfather (spent most of his early life in SW NSW, Lockart, etc) and his 83 yo girlfriend.

The big black wall was approaching and I said WTF is that? Their response was 'dust storm', shut the windows, be over in half an hour.

    And it was.

It's not like these events have never happened before. In the past no-one had the cameras and instant image transmission like we do now.

    cheers, DL
