Although im not defending these others either, the law is there and all should be punished equally according to the offence.
    which would you rather?

someone who has the potential to be quite a safe driver should they choose

    OR

someone who regularly demonstrates they shouldnt be allowed to breed, nevermind the responsibility and privilege of driving?

theres a difference between choosing to drive like an idiot, and not being capable of driving otherwise

I dont think it matters whether they are in a prado or a hatchback, most state schools have no logical means by with which to drop off or pick up children. The state school which my kids use to go to had no pick up or drop off are and only offered reverse in parking on both sides of the road and NO LOLLLYPOP OR CROSSING. We recently moved the kids to a small catholic school where there are 2 massive drop off and pick up areas as well as a seperate bus area as well as a lollypop.

4wd's in school areas arent the problem, its the fact that you have a heap of impatient mums fighting to get through the traffic jam created by poor planning.

    You gotta love those stereotypes.

    Mums in school zones

Belongs in the same category as "4wds should be banned" & "Volvo drivers are hopeless"

    Where is the analysis of:

    • Parking arrangements near schools
    • Recognition that in today's society most both parents have to work to pay off that $400,000 first home mortgage.
    • Often Dad's do the "drop off" - in the Mazda 2.
    • Society is more dangerous so walking alone to school kicking a tin can is not an option.

Sorry to go all serious but we as 4wders are often the victim of ignorant sterotypes so we shouldn't generate them.

OK , maybe the volvo stereotype is reasonable

I think some of you have missed the point.

I’m not accusing every MUM ( or dad ) of being idiots, what I’m suggesting, as per the conversation my mate and I had, that those who do behave like idiots should get the same penalties that hoons get.

The law is in place, just extend it's range of use.

Not really, they both cause accidents and fatalities. One is just an idiot and the other is incompetent. Not actually sure who is really more dangerous, but I have had more near misses from incompetent drivers than hoons. Not condoning either however.
It also depends on what you deem hoon behaviour. There is so much now thrown into that basket it is ridiculous and not what the legislation was intended for.
