I would look at a GOOD working jenny closely then copy it,wouldnt try re-inventing the wheel.Havent seen one using bearings,I feel it would spin too fast!!!
Another tip if you are doing a plain wire fence.Sit the jenny in the middle of the fence, run the wires each way to the strainer and use those gripples, they are the bees knees
Enjoy, once you build a good fence you will want to fence veverything

Good thoughts there Andrew, thanks for these. I hear what you're saying about fencing everything. I think the only thing that would stop that for me is a lack of a spinner and the cost of the netting.... but... there is still more fencing to go!

My next learn will be Strainer posts.

    Strainer posts are easy.
Box strainers are hi tech,no need in most applications.Cattle do put big pressure on a fence with no power, unless you have rouge cattle and no electric fences no need for a box strainer.
A single strainer with a strut 2/3rds its height is good.the strut needs a large flat rock buried in the dirt to secure.
Once again gripples are your mate, plain wire or ringlock.Over straining destroys a new fence, put a decent strain on to strart with then re-strain a year or 2 down the road, saves pulling strainers out of soft ground.
You should be able to find fencing tips on the net,try Cyclone and Wharatah

    Forgot to add
Hire a post hole digger to dig all your holes, mark them first and bore the lot.I used a Digga unit recently and was well worth the hire price!!!
Concrete all strainers in,it works well.
Leave to set a week or 2 then strut, run the wire and strain.

a landy hub packed with turntable grease with the bearings overtightened works well as the basis for a spinning jenny and if you mount it up on a wheel rim you can add a choker strap for extra braking.
