Interesting thread or where it has gone.
I am not a Victorian. I moved here. There are a lot of people here who are or claim to be related to the Kellys. There are a lot of people here who are or claim to be related to the Fitzpatricks.I have also lived and worked in Benalla. I have met a lot of them.
One of the things I have learnt from being in Victoria is you can talk about you opinion on sex, religion and politics but for a quiet life, don't ever, ever mention your opinion on the Kelly incident.

Vegemite has always been made by Kraft, but Kraft was always owned by Australia, until the stupid Americans bought the company and ruined it with I_**** 2.0 or Vege****e.....oh stuff it I cant remember what its called.

There are plenty of iconic australian things, lots more than 10. Maybe we could come up with an AULRO top 20 and then put it to a poll, then allow 10 votes in the poll and see which 10 get the highest number of votes.

Vegemite was originally marketed by an Australian company called Fred Walker that was bought by Kraft. Kraft was originally a Canadian company. Wasn't it Philip Morris (the cigarette company) that bought Kraft? I think Kraft is publicly owned on the US stock market now. I don't think Kraft was ever owned by Australia.

Ned Kelly is now like Robin Hood where the myth is so big that people think everything is fact.

Its not just Ned Kelly though, you have Chopper Reid, Carl Williams and all the other dirtbags from Underbelly.

Back to the icons though, surely we can be remembered for better things.

Ok, i stand corrected. I just thought there was a big stink kicked up when the yanks bought it because there was another australian company gone overseas, must be something else im thinking of.
