My wife has a current model Honda Accord Euro and we just drove a FG XR6 hire car that had only got 30,000k (highway miles mostly cause this was a Cairns car) on it and we did a few thousand k over a week...and the Honda was streets ahead on everything but straight line acceleration; comfort, handling in the wet, braking, noise, transmission, steering, everything.

I was dissapointed with the Falcon fit and finish. I know that its hard to compare a local with a good Jap, but Jeez but 7 year old D2 with 155,000 feels tighter and has no dash rattles!

    Cheers

How does the Accord stack up price wise against the XR6 ?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I wish Ford would pull their finger out and make a FG Wagon. The BA will be up for renewal in the coming months and I can get a wagon through work. ford Wagons are the old BA models and only come as an XT (Pov Pack) no side airbags VS Commodore which have limited room in the back but 5 start ANCAP rating and about $4000 Cheaper.
Ford couldn't even give me a brochure on their wagon having to print something off the internet.

    New FG's look the goods.

Yeah Gillie Ford is trying to push wagon buyers the way of the Territory.
Sadly they don;t give out shares in BP when they sell the things !

They have been a problematic aswell, with brake issues and other warranty problems.

One of the guys at work has one and he likes it though, i personally have never been a fan.

I have since been and sat in a few different model FG's including the Typhoon and the GT and they all have the same problem, the steering wheel is to low, and the seat doesnt adjust low enough.

Im off getting a GT and when i have the money im getting a rangie for the same money.

I was curious to as to why they were only getting commodores instead of the falcons aswell and its because the standard brakes on the falcons wasnt up to the task, after a few minutes of urgent duties driving they faded and lost brakes. The only option was to get them with the Brembo brakes that come on the FPV's but ford wouldnt do a deal and at $6000 to upgrade to them the NSW Police force wouldnt pay it.

Ford have now come to the party and they have brought back the "Chaser" image because all falcons will come with the brembos and FPV wheels to fit over them.

The highway guys reckon the XR6T makes the V8's obsolete, the NSW Police love them cause they have the grunt when you need it but the fuel economy of a 6 when they are cruising on the highway.
