    Starting a thread on AYI-077

I just want some opinions on where to start a very long term thread on the Series 11a Leyland Brothers Land Rover.

It sort of doesn't fit in anywhere if you know what I mean

    Anyway wile I'm here....
Have been in contact with the RTA and can only keep the plates by either putting in storage, transferring to another vehicle or putting a full registration back on the Land Rover. This is going to be expensive for me As will be rarely driven. I cant seem to get any exceptions other than a historical rego and lose the plates of leave them on another vehicle. I'll have to have a hard think about this.

I'm still sorting out some temporary storage for it, thanks to those who PM'd.

This thread is only temporary till we all decide where to put it long term.

    Cheers Tony.

    G'Day Tony.

I'd say the best place would be Projects and Tutorials - thats where I put Gus!

I guess if you can't afford full rego on an occasional vehicle, the original plates could go "missing" prior to transferring to historic Rego...

The plate format has changed for NSW now so they wouldn't be re-issued. You could just bolt them on for shows much like I do with fake ARN plates on Ambrose.

If you realy want to keep the No plates. Should be done anyway
to keep historical significance the only way is to put them on hold.
I don't know but i think the vehicle must still be registered, if un registered
you may have to surrender the plates. You can still get new plates made
from the old number providing they have not been allocatde to someone else
They all cost. Puttilg them in hold you get a anual fee used to be $32 dollars but the charges have all changed...Mark

    G'day Shonky,

Curious about this - How so?

2 years ago I had a real run-in with the RTA. It's not my fault my ownership predates their systems. Or the previous systems. Or the old records before that..

Its a pain trying to re-register an old car on its orinagal numberplate. But I've got two sets of BSQ-176 as a result.

    Regards
    Max P

Put full rego back on it...PM your bank details and I'll drop some money into your account to pay for it..

The vehicle is not required to be registered or even exist! You can put plates on hold for a fee and they are not linked to any vehicle. The RTA will hang on to them for you though.

You can't get black on yellow plates in the old AAA-111 format anymore - even personalised. You can only get them as remakes, meaning replacements for stolen or damaged plates. I am not sure that you can get previous rego numbers reinstated on an unregistered vehicle without getting personalised content, which in this case won't work.

Standard content NSW plates are now AA-11-AA format.

When these plates were released (must have been soon after you got your old car replated) they stopped issuing old format plates (as per the above to groucho).

I don't think you would not be able to get BSQ-176 issued these days - you may have been lucky you got in when you did!

Shonky beat me too it - I'm sure someone could make up some replicas.

I recently handed back some NSW plates, unfortunately I only had one left. You wouldn't believe it, but the other one fell off.

The fella at the counter said "No problems, this happens all the time".

Yours is older than mine so be careful, they may both fall off .

Just had a funny thought, If its towed behind my Isuzu it is very likely the vibrations may shake them off

I feel the way most do though. Be best to keep a full rego on it. It's due this feb so I have three months to get it road worthy before a blue slip

This is a very tender topic what I'm about to suggest now. What about I set up some sort of a trust fund for AYI-077 Help cover Rego, transport to shows etc? I'll be setting up an account for it anyway to keep tabs of $$ spent and traceability.

What does it need for a Bluey?

Not sure how to go about with the trust fund, but make sure there isn't any snags in the relevant legislation about collecting for a cause without being a registered charity...

(not saying there is, I dunno - just worth checking!)

That's good that it's still rego'd makes playing with plates a bit eazy er
You can put them in hold in that case. If the plates are not damaged
They may re issue them. They are a bit niggly about older plates these days
Best to inquire first just dont take them in till you find out
If they still re issue new plates in the old style
It most probly wont have NSW on top but new south wales on the bottom.
I have the old F plates still on the Mack and i can still get them remade when they get stone chipped. You just pay........Mark
