I have a very sad life, being an insomniac with an internet connection I spend a lot of time researching things for other people just to stop me from going loopy late at night or in the morning when the rest of the house is asleep.

I also got to help out the venturas who were doing one when i was a scout.

I am about two thirds of the way through building a cedar strip canoe. It's not cheap. The material alone costs about $900.00. Picasa Web Albums - Peter - REDBIRD STRIP...
But if you are looking for free plans for a ply canoe try here.Free boat plans from Bateau

Glass is good n all but there's nothing like making it all outta wood.

I would be very wary of some of the plastic fantastics out there. Some are actually dangerous if you venture offshore. Many have too much above the waterline and catch the wind something horrible. The eskimos came up with probably the best sea-worthy design, but the indians in the North America's with their birch-bark canoe came up with the best generous purpose lugger.

On the other hand, sailing canoes are something just out of this world.

mate its cool, I get that question about once a fortnight. I have some fairly standard answers to it depending on whos asking, some are forum friendly others arent, all are ment to be taken light heartedly...(well some have an underlying current of truth to them)
