Thread: Anyone used or using Memory Map?

Yep, many use memory map, including me. I've used it for years and find it MUCH more intuitive and easier to use than anything else.

Historically I've used it on old PDAs, laptops, tablet PCs and more recently iPad & iPhone. For the apple devices the free app is all you need (if you've got the pc maps (aus topo etc)).

2 thumbs up! I've got memory map aus topo. I think you can also get the full HEMA maps for it now as well.

Just seen your username. Do you have a pc or all macs?

Macs suffer from no decent mapping software, so need to use parallels or boot camp or the like if no pc.

I have used Ozi Explorer a lot and find Memory Map a bit difficult. However in saying that Ozi was a steep learning curve. I think what suits you will be what you are familiar with and what has the features you want.

I have tons of maps for Ozi and can now how to import and export between various programs so will stick with it.

Ive got Memory Map up and running on Windows 7 and the Windows CE on the Navman but having trouble with the GSP/SATELITES not working.

Ive downloaded all three Memory-Map build - for the Adventurer GPS, Holux build - for the Holux Fun Trek Range of GPS, Hema Navigator build - for both HN1 and HN5 units but still cannot get a GPS signal on all three programs.

Iam guessing cause I do not have the correct GPS software to go with above units it will not recognise the GPS.

But Ive been very impressed with the program itself on both PC and Windows CE.

Ive been playing around with he demo version of Ozi tonight scanning a few of my maps recalibrating them to run on OziCe and must say very impressed if I cannot get Memory Map to recognise my GPS I think Ill just purchase the licence to Ozi.

I always set it to use NMEA rather than specific manufacturers and then use, 9600, 8, N, 1 for the port settings.

I use the prolific USB-serial drivers and find the relevant com port from control panel, making sure them mm port settings are the same as in control panel.

Have you got the gps working in ozi? I always find that more difficult than mm.

Don't know if it's necessary to run virtualised Windows software on Mac. MacGPS Pro is a capable gps mapping application, and does everything I need in terms of route planning and track viewing.

I just found an Android Beta as well

I bought memory maps about 2 years ago with the 1:25k 1:100k and 1:250k maps of Tasmania.
I run it on a laptop with a USB puck style GPS, I don't have one of those little Win CE devices every body else seems to use.

I like the seamless maps in MM, and the fact you can have two synchronised windows open in different scales.
It is very fast in listing names of places when searching.
I haven't figured out how to get stuff in and out from Google Maps like I can with Ozi.

I won't be buying any more maps for it, Ozi does all I want and need, and I have a pretty good set of Australian maps on various DVDs that have passed my way.
