I'm waiting on one to come in to send off for modding (from deal extreme). This unit, 7.0" Touch Screen WinCE 6.0 SiRF Atlas IV GPS Navigator w/ Bluetooth/FM/4GB TF Card w/ Australia Map - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

Hope it's ok, also have a 32gig card coming as well.

Interested to hear how this one worked out. I'm after a decent size screen for navigation that will take reverse camera input and these look like they'll do the job.

10" screen would be nice, but I don't really want to go the tablet route and use bluetooth camera etc.

Worked out well, only issue is my lack of ability to get it together to speak to Ryan to get a run down on making it all work.

I have had one for a while and they are pretty good, Mine has nearly 16 GB of ozi explorer maps on a SD card, Problem is when you get too many maps it slows it down and sometimes freezes the GPS. Solution is to get one of the high speed cards that are used for SLR cameras. The processors in the later ones may be a bit faster?

I still like these units even though a few people think that an Ipad with google maps is better for off road navigation. I have not used google maps for this. Any comments, experiance of this?

There is no ozi explorer app yet for Ipad but there is for android type apparently.

The biggest advantage with these units is that you can leave them on your dash and if someone does nick it you have lost only $100. I wouldnt leave an Ipad on my dash and I would probably forget to take it anyway.

The maps for ozi explorer are pretty dated with many roads not on them, but sometimes this is good as i like to follow abandoned railway formations and bush tracks and later maps sometimes dont show them. I have the 25k QLD sunmap series and a lot of 100k nation wide maps as well as the 250k natmap and the hema ones. Havent got any 25k NSW,VIC ones yet but I believe they are available.

Mine is quite an old unit (2 years) and is pretty slow when you try and scroll, Some of the newer ones on deals extreme have a 1gb processor so they should be really fast but they dont have AV in which seams to be a backwards step. The one in the post above has a 533mhz processor which I would be interested in knowing how that goes.
