I begin restoration of a series 2a in Russia
Hello. I am glad to enter club of owners of a series.
I from Russia and couldn't refuse recently to myself purchase of a series 2A 07/1971.
I very much want to learn destiny of this car, however I have no communication with her owner.
Car at present not under way. There are no brakes and some parts of the steering mechanism. The gas equipment was installed, I suspect that it was made by one of dealers.
As I understood from interpretation of VIN number, the wheel had to be on the right side, and it with left.
The engine didn't open still, several times changed oil and an oil filter. As it became clear the engine six cylinder Holdan. When I could start it, very much was delighted, the engine worked well.
VIN 34710405G
I will show foto later
I plan to restore this car

						]Hello Bimmer,
Thank you for your posts. Could you add some photographs of your vehicle? Do you know what cubic inch the engine is and what colour the motor is? If it is a red colour then look on the lower part of the engine just behind where the back of the alternator is mounted. The photograph shows that my vehicle is a "202" cubic inch motor.
I am not sure if you have found your engine number location? If it is a Red motor look on the flat surface of the driver's side engine casing just above where the engine mount is. There is a flat surface on the engine casing that is in between the distributor and where the glass bowl mechanical fuel pump normally goes. I replaced my mechanical fuel pump with an electric one so I now only have a blanking plate on the engine.
The yellow arrows show you roughly where to look on the second photograph. If you can post up your engine number I might be able to identify what the donor vehicle looked like for you.
Kind Regards
Lionel
Welcome to the forum Bimmer, and good luck with your restoration. Some photos of your rover in it's new environment would be nice.
I was saving my money years ago to have a trip to Russia, but ended up getting married and buying a house with the money.
Don.
