In my D3 I had the VMS500, with a reversing camera mounted. Worked very well. Mounted the unit in the gap in the dash. It didn't fill the whole of the gap but still looked pretty neat.

Liked the VMS unit, and even though I have the Sat-nav in the D4, I will be taking the VMS away on any trips outside of the city. However, the D4 unit does bring up the street nav a lot quicker than the VMS, and is just as useful for my needs as the VMS in this mode.

    Cheers,
    Cameron

I'll get some pics but in the meantime, its just a $300 ebay one with a small 2-part bracket fabricated from aluminium sheet mounted under the flat panel in front of the screen. I setup a simple shell (courtesy of another AULRO thread) to allow either Ozi or the supplied nav s/w to be selected.

From the Nav Screen Menu, select "Navigation Setup", then select "Map Change".
It will display a list of all installed maps & their version.
I imagine all Aust delivered vehicles only show details of a single map installed. Perhaps Europe & Nth America and so on would have multiple maps installed to cover many areas & regions.

    4x4 info optional?

It's a great novelty item but I'm not sure how useful it is yet and in all probability if you are watching what your wheels are doing on the screen you will probably get stuck cause your not watching where you are going.
I have just purchased an 05 D3 SE with factory satnav but it doesn't seem to have the 4x4 mode. I think you access it from the fist page of the GPS - ie choice between Navigation, Setting and 4x4 mode but mine doesn't have the 4x4 mode. Were there models sold in Australia without the 4x4 mode, thats what my LR dealer suggested (but they didn't know the 4x4 mode existed until I showed them a screenshot from a web site.) but I am not so sure.

Is there a way to check it is a genuine LR system? It wasn't working at all when i bought the car and the dealer replaced it under warranty - now the satnav works fine.

Assuming it is there but not functioning - any ideas what I might check to see if I can re-instate it eg reboot the system or check the wiring is properly installed?

And another question - is the voice guidance configurable - eg can it ise different voices?

    Thanks

The 4x4 screen was only available with the 'Premium' Satnav package. There was also a 'Standard' Satnav package.

(If you get a faultmate or similar you can enable the 4x4 in a car with only standard satnav.)

    Hey Guys,

I have the D4 HSE with the premium satnav, but have to use it with the voice mode turned off, as it is so loud it blasts you out of the vehicle. I have tried turning it down via the touch screen audio adjustments (page 2), but it is still far louder than what you were listening to prior to the navigation direction cutting across.

Has anyone else found this problem and can it be fixed?

    Cheers

    Allan

I have an SE with SatNav.....don't know if it's premium thou. I had the same problem but i've found that the stereo, phone and satnav volume are independant and need to be turned down individually or you get what you have described.

It's tricky to do when you get a short window of opertunity to make the adjustments.

'Make' the satnav talk and then turn down the volume on it as 'she' is talking. It may take you a few goes. The radio/cd volume should remain unchanged. Don't adjust before or after the voice command as that will adjust the stereo volume.

    Same with the phone.

    This worked for my system.

    Cheers,

    Kev.

Has anybody with the premium sat nav for the D4 with the touch screen, considered an after market add on box to connect a computer (say a toughbook) to the D4 screen so that you can run any after market gps software programme from that computer on the screen in the car? If this were possible, it would over come the short comings of the standard system.
