    Faults. My list

Well, took the D4 in for a 'gearbox' fault (orange triangle) that's appeared twice in 3 months. Dealer plugged in the computer, and it's some selector issue (known) and there is a TSB out on it. Seems the module has a fault that tells the car it's in 'command shift' mode while still in Park sometimes so it gets a 'that can't ever happen' error and lights up the dash. So a new part on order.

Other fault is a rattle in the drivers side back seat backrest. Dealer would have fixed it, but they had a workshop accident and took a mechanic off to hospital so my car with the minor rattle, and the gearbox fault found got put aside so all the servicing could be done. They did give me the loan car free (normally a small fee) and it will be free again when they get the parts to fix the car.

The loaner was a 2009 Freelander TD4 and I'm so glad I bought the D4. The freelander was noisy compared to the D4, but did have nice growl!

    Wow,
Hope the tech is ok, any idea what happened?

A good outcome for you, they obviously tried to not inconvenience you too much.

    Cheers.

So far on mine (since late March 10)...

    • Remote Suspension Down does not work (up does)
    • Driver's Side Rear window "bounced" a couple of times
    • Rear Upper Section needs adjustment (sometimes needs to be closed a couple of times, remote unlock still requires using the handle button again)
    • Faint speaker hiss
    • Clock does not remember setting for non 24hr mode after restart

All in all, not bad... I'm still happy, and I think all of the above are easy fixes/adjustments.

No idea what happened to the tech - they didn't say, and I do hope he's (or she these days) is OK.

I've not tried the remote up/down thing - best I get the manual out!

My window on the drivers side did that once, but never again. They did the Q093 update on my anyway.
Faint speaker hiss is there but not obtrusive. It doesn't turn the radio on but powers they system up when you unlock the car. Get somebody to 'lock' you in the car from a distance, and the noise is not there.
I have no problem with the clock, it's fine in mine.

Only thing that's really annoying is the rattle in the seat behind me. I've had a look and I can't find anything that it could be. Took the trim off the side of the frame and there's nothing that can rattle, yet rattle it does. Maybe a new seat frame?

There's not enough room on the forum server for that list!

My fault list is pretty small - rattle in front passenger speaker, and that I don't get to drive her nearly as much as I would like.

    My faults so far are:

1.)Drivers speaker rattled - now fixed
2.)Terrain response not holding the setting after restarting - still not fixed
3.)Drivers seat belt adjuster rattles on the road - still not fixed
4.)Power steering fluid dropped due to a faulty seal. Fixed twice (apparently) but still leaks. -Waiting on parts
5.)Fan needs to be fixed, chopped up a pipe that came off -Waiting on parts
6.)Drivers chair needs replacing as it doesn't hold the position.- Waiting on parts
7.)Suspension squeaks offroad. I assume its mud that's got in it.
    8.)Bonnet wouldn't close properly - Now fixed

Overall very ****ed off with my servicing department. Contact Land Rover Australia and now Southern Land Rover will be resolving the outstanding issues.

Probably another 2 weeks for the fan to arrive then it should be all good

    Initially on delivery I had:

    · A few broken light lens fittings…kept falling out.
    · Rattling induction hose.
    · Suspension failures…slow to raise and multiple fault codes.

All fixed under warranty and no further problems.

However after reading these posts do remember that on occasions my Terrain Response settings did turn off when the car was shut down and locked….didn’t know if that was normal or not. On other occasions it seemed fine but the 4WD display wouldn’t show the diff locks without being reset. I also noticed a wheel direction display on the main dash between the speedo and tacho that would come and go…..not sure what initiates it’s appearance. In saying this, my cruise control info can disappear after I’ve disengaged and resumed…so it may be the way that it’s designed…quirky but maybe OK. Having not paid specific attention to how long it had been between shut down and start-up, whether I’d fully locked the car etc, I couldn’t judge if it was right or wrong.

After my Fraser trip, everything squeaked and squealed…suspension, mirrors, doors etc….but they all seem to have settled down after being washed and being away from salt and sand….not sure what the outcome would be if I lived there!

One thing I noticed was a very loud metallic noise when hitting rough surfaces off-road….sharp like a crack but not like something was broken…just movement of a bash-plate or the exhaust…intend to get that looked at but I think it is nothing more than movement.

Of course, now that I've driven the thing at speed (unintentionally) over a washout and into a 4 to 5" bank....not sure what to expect in the future...
