My last 3 cars have all been tuned and I have been really happy with the outcomes. Smoother throttle, better performance and better fuel economy on long drives.
The minute the car plays up, I will rip the chip out. But Steinbaurer/ DP Chips have had good reviews and many happy customers around the world.
No doubt its a risk, but so is our government.
Driving the car now chipped, it feels and reacts much better than stock. I hope it will remain in this condition for atleast a few years!
As mentioned EGT=Exhaust Gas Temperature.
You need to buy and fit (or have fitted) an EGT guage ASAP. IMHO every turbo diesel should come with one standard - it is the most important thing to measure on the engine.
Myself and many others on here have Auburn Instruments EGTs - which are compact and work well.

Ideally you want to fit it just before the turbo(s). I am not familiar with the D3/4. Is there a plug in the manifold you can remove to fit the EGT?
However after the turbo(s) is better than nothing.
Does the OBDII Port on the D4 output EGT data?
I'd just like mine to not spit the dummy on the rare occasion I've tried to get it to go quickly. On both occasions it has coughed and spluttered, blown heaps of blue smoke and hunted about not knowing which gear to use for several seconds before leisurely gathering pace in a high gear whilst my foot is flat to the floor, all in front of an audience!
