Rained all weekend so nothing to do....

....so why not see if I can pull the headlights out past the ARB bar....

    ....opps....

...not enough room to fully remove them!

Had another go at removing the headlights through the ARB bar.
This time by first removing the headlight washer jet.
    Still not enough room!

The available height between the top loop and the bar is about 1cm lower than that of the headlight.
No amount of twisting & manoeuvring will get it out.
It makes it VERY difficult to access and view the globes.

I just tried to remove the headlights on a D3 S (so no headlight washers) fitted with an ARB winch bar and I don't see how it can be done. Surely ARB would have prototyped and put into production a bar that needs to come off to change a light bulb. I don't believe there's any way to change a bulb with the access as limited as it is with ARB bar.

Has anyone had any joy getting the lights out on a D3 fitted with an ARB bull bar?

I had to change a globe on the passenger side of my D3 a few years ago. Remember thinking "how am I going to get the headlight out as per handbook instructions?!" In the end I managed to change globe by moving the filler for the washer bottle (which by the way had been dislodged when the bar was fitted!) It took less than an hour but unfortunately I can't remember the details of how I did it. Sorry! This is not to say the ARB didn't stuff up! Don't know how difficult it would be to change drivers side headlight globe.. I think that on my D4 you just access the globes from the back of the headlight housing.

You can remove the lights through an ARB bar by unscrewing the plastic cowl behind the lights and then removing it through the bar.

    Thanks Caver

I'm trying to work out exactly what you removed. Maybe this should be an FAQ/sticky.

The plastic bit the left of the light in the bottom picture. Not the round bit, that's the cap for the lights.

    This cover:

    Undo the three screws.

    Now removed

    LIGHT REPLACEMENT THROUGH ARB BAR

    Caver, Bobzed,
Try as I may the headlamp unit will not come out of the bar. I have just had my ARB Bar fitted, so maybe some minute mods now preclude the removal of the headlamp unit. Looks like I need to find a new home for the HID kit.

    Cheers
