    CRITICAL WARNING

    Amazing machine.

I took delivery of my D4 last Saturday morning and had a weekend of driving and shear enjoyment over the first 500km.... until a barely audible pop.

    CRITICAL WARNING - STABILITY
    Vehicle slowing to 50km

I was into mental overdive - turn the vehicle off and wait. Turn it back on and still the CRITCAL WARNING - STABILITY persisted. Out I got and would you wouldn't believe it - a rear right flat tyre from a small piece of metal somewhere on a bitumen highway drive.

A quick wheel change using the LR Jack and tools - which seemed to work contrary to reported expections.

Ignition on - all systems OK and off we go.

Apart from the CRITCAL WARNING - STABILITY I wasn't aware of any problem and there was no discernable drift of the vehicle as I would have expected. The vehicle was under control from 120km/hr down to 50km/hr and stop.

    Agro,

Nice to know it works as CaverD3 noted. However, this is why some people recommend tyre pressure sensors, not because the car can not handle it wen you get a flat but you run the risk of seriously stuffing the tyre by driving on until you or the vehicle realise it is flat.

As a replacement tyre is circa $350 - $400 and the tyre pressure system are a bit less than this they would pay for themselves with one save.

I do not have one, but would consider it if doing long distance outback travel/touring where finding a replacement tyre would be a real pain.

I blew a left rear tyre on my olf 07TDV8 sports and must have driven about 5k's on the motorway before turning off, went round a roundabout coming off the motorway and felt the back end slid a little. Tyre well and truly stuffed but quickly changed and on may way again

Has the D4 got sensors in the tyres themselves or is it the new software I read about that US makers are now fitting that measures a rolling radius difference between the designed revolutions of each wheel at every speed and the actual revolutions.

AFAIK from reading the releases, you will have to very careful in changing tyre diameters if it is the latter.
Your post suggests that the display did not tell you which tyre so I assume the latter.

PS all cars sold in the USA now have to have this facility . This was one of the results of the great Ford Explorer tyre scandal. So don't congratulate Land Rover too much.

And the HSE 5 litre V8 is the only engine /trans available in the USA so I guess they could not be bothered deleting it from the HSE spec..
