    Hi All,
Good to hear the good wrap GG,s are getting as I had a set fitted last week.
As for Coopers a mate went and did the Robe to Carpenters rock run and three of four tyres had lumpy side walls after , brocken cords I suspect. this was enough to put me off.
Cant wait to get the GGs off road

    PS Merry Xmas to all

I had GG2's on my D3 and they were excellent on and off road. When new they did the Adelaide - Uluru trip via the Oodndatta track etc and I took two spares and used neither. We had the D3 packed to the rafters (read: heavy!!) and towed a Kimberley Camper over very, very rough country including the creek through to Boggy Hole in NT (with camper!!).

Two years and just under 40,000 plus kays later we did the same trip. We had one rear RHS blow out about two hours out of Oodndatta, late in the afternoon, after a full day on the track loping along effortlessly.......then about two hours out of Dallhousie the rear lhs blew out too. Tire pressures were about right, but I failed to note temp rising (Tyre Dog) and to be honest I was just a little inexperienced. Lesson learnt. Next time I do a big trip I will always have newish tires on alround and especially the back. Both spares went on ofcourse and no further issues all the way around the Rock and home to Adelaide.

No sign of delamination etc. I have never heard of Michy blowing - that being the province of AMerican tyres early in their years of radials. I say that having been around a lot of off road drivers and a brother with an off road business for 14 years who also sells tyres.

    Cheers
The XPC is one of the best ever 4WD tyres,I'm tossing up between Michelin or GG's for my L322,I'm leaning towards Michelins.I like many others was lured to Coopers but mine were so bad I replaced them before they were worn out. Pat

So where can one source the GG's local to SE Melb?
I can get hold of any of the Michies, but can't seem to find anyone with the GGs,, Are these something you have to import yourself?

HHmmm ok big guy, i can't say i remember which michei i had on at the time as it was 12 yrs ago but i managed to blow 3 in the space of 2000k's, all were down to the last 3-5 mm of tread all were on gravel roads and all were on my {much missed} 82 rangie, i had very little weight onboard but i was travelling a little quicker than the average punter. Now that said i have had a few friends in the past few years who have bought cars that had michies already on them and they have had the same problem, again not sure which type of michie and again these were central qld property cars so nearly all offroad/gravel use.
I think bushwanderer may be on the money about using michie's on road as the michie dual compound tyres are my favourite tyre on the motorbikes.
Merry Xmas all, and remember it's better to be there late than not at all.

Hi Chops We got our General Grabbers from On Track 4X4
    Factory 5
    12 Melcome Court
    Kealba
    9310 7755

Very Happy with the tyres on the 18 inch rims, much better in the mud and smooth enough on the road. Even fixed the prob I had with the Disco wandering all over the place! Not cheap though But so far worth the price.

Thanks Connock and Andrew,, found a place in Dandenong that sells them, he doesn't have any at the moment but can get them in for me,,
I probably won't be tackling anything too hard in Tassie over Xmas, so I should be fine till I get back. I'm not looking to turn the D2 into something like my D1, just want to keep this one looking/driving nicely,, and quietly
too,, she'll mostly be a street tourer so to speak. I have the D1 for the rough stuff

Sorry for the highjack, and thanks to all for the input,,
