As the pioneer tray is nearly identical in design and actually lower profile to the roof without the need for cross bars it must be the light bar causing the buffeting.
Haven't run without the light bar on as had it all fitted at once. Yes do'snt take much to pinch them. Going to do a final tighten of the nuts then tag all 4 with a spot weld and full in the recess with black sikaflex so it will take a concerted effort.
Thinking of vynall wrapping the centre of the bonnet in black satin vynall to follow the raised centr section of the bonnet so not the whole thing. This would help with the lightbar reflecting. Did a mock up on photoshop and do'snt look to bad, a bit rad but hey can peel it off. Also going to white out the rear side windows (dotted vynall) I'll chuck up the mock ups, see what you think. Come this far.......
I'm also considering putting the "dotted vinyl" on my rear windows - should stop a bit of heat entering through them - maybe I'll get a Landrover emblem on 'em just for fun...

Just an idea for your water capacity issue, I have seen moulded plastic tanks designed for the back of the D3/4 that fit either across the foot well, or across the front of a cargo barrier if you have the 2 nd row of seats folded down. They are a long slim design with taps at either end.
That's what the FlexiTank is; attached to the cargo barrier, and has an outer protective cover, which made the leak even less obvious when I was looking.

Unfortunately one of the seams was not properly sealed, and I stupidly trusted the assurance that everything was tested before leaving the factory. Looks as if pressure on the seam slows the leak, so wasn't obvious at the start, until I left it standing, and found water leaking out through all four doors.

Removed it, and filled it outside, and the leak wasn't obvious (just drips running down the slope I had it on; thought it might have been spillage when filling), until I lifted up the bladder. Then...

Have put through an insurance claim to get the whole lot of carpet replaced, and they will likely get the money from FlexiTank; much easier than for me to do so.

    Hi OldSalt,

Thats exactly the one i was trying to find. Do you have any info on it i.e.: capacity / cost where do you get it. Is the barrier a milford?
    Cheers Cameron

There's a white D4 getting round Perth with the raised section of the bonnet blacked out as you have described - doesn't look too bad.

I never bothered, as my LED bar was mounted far enough back (between the front legs of the roofrack) that the roof itself masked bonnet, and I never had a glare problem (have even less of a glare issue now ).

You will find that the LED bar is causing most of the wind noise that you are experiencing at the moment - my roofrack generates very little noise on its own, but there was plenty of noise from up there when the light bar was on.
    Cheers .........

Did the noise decrease with the bar mounted lower? They almost need a clip on clear acrylic cover in the shape of an aero foil or something similar to the wind deflectors on truck cabs. I guess if you wanted to get real tricky you could cut a hole in the front of the rack wall and recess it if you sacrifice a bit of internal rack space ......

Thumbs up The inaugural road trip

Having picked up my new car two weeks out from xmas there was no better way to become accustomed to it than take it on a 3000k road trip.
While no hardcore off-roading was performed, I am very impressed with it's on road manners. The Hay Plains are a lot 'shorter' at $1.35

From an enjoyable Christmas break, no serious 4WDing, just relaxation.

D3 on the beach at Emu Bay, Kangaroo Island.

D3 at the mouth of the Murray River.
