i mite ask for another car, considering the way that is needed to get to the turbos![]()
Hi everyone.
I was supposed to take delivery of a new D4 HSE today, however the dealer rang me in the morning to say that the turbo sounded a little "noisy" and that they were having a look at it. At 1700 this afternoon i ran them and was told that the turbos had to be replaced; no specific fault was given.
Is this a common problem and should i consider cancelling the order?
Cheers,
Peter![]()

Mate I haven't read a single issue with D4 Turbo's on this site.
I'd get to the bottom of it as it will take months for a replacement car....but I wouldn't take any crap from them.
If the car stinks, walk away....expensive mistake otherwise. But it could be a component change and no further issues too...
Get to the story!
Cheers,
Kev,
Quite a few turbo issues appearing. LR are producing modified turbos to fix some issues.
3.0L engine I assume.
If you reject you will be waiting a while for another.
Rejecting the car is a bit extreme!
Just get the turbo fixed and off you go. It has another 3 years of warranty, so if there are any issues it'll get put right.
Has been a couple of issues on the UK site with the 3.0Lt turbo's.
One bloke had a new engine and turbo's.
It would be hard for me to accept a new vehicle that had to have the turbos replaced before it went on the road.
Cheers, Craig
The problem was there was a "whistle" on accelerating. They replaced the original unit and said the problem with the original unit was that one of the fan blades was slightly bent, causing the noise.
I guess this makes sense to me and given the long wait for another model spec'd the same i am tempted to take them at their word. This is the 3rd car ive bought from this dealership (first LR) so I am hoping they want repeat business.
Any comments?
Cheers,
Peter
Me - I'd be taking it.
There are 10,000 (??) parts in a car and you've had trouble with one of them, so I'd be making a date to go and pick it up![]()
Don't be telling me that....mine whistles slightly...I thought that was normal having heard heaps of normal and marine diesels do the same....I like it.
Please don't tell me that's an issue......in fact do.....I'm still under warranty....
Cheers,
Kev.
