    Hi Babs
    Back luck
    I have a similar issue.
Hit a roo in SA, damaged fog light and bumper slightly.
    Quote $3050 to repair.
Claimed insurance, got the cash and put towards ARB bar.
Insurance company was fine with it.
As you can see in photos, there was a little bit of flavouring left for the meal that night..

First trip to farm and had one run into the side, cracked my front flare. I'm hoping that the flare gets cut off above this crack when they fit the ARB Bar. Lucky I was going slow otherwise that would have been worse

Any idea how much the plastic guard costs to replace? I got whacked on the side as well on our recent 2 month excursion - on the second day. Probably go reluctantly down the Bull Bar path.

Thanks Rhino, I never thought of the insurance path.

My excess is $650 so if it comes in at around $1,000 it's probably not worth the trouble but if it comes in a 2k or more happy days

I'll go past repairers and get a quote.

I'd be claiming unless it affects your no claim bonus etc. You pay the premiums, so why not claim when you've had an accident? Had a similar situation with my last car when someone wiped out my rear wheel arch in a car park. Took it to a repairer and he wasn't sure without pulling the area apart how much because of potential hidden damage. I was going to simply get it patched up so to speak but he suggested claiming as the cost of the excess was close to what a "rough" estimate and this meant that I would get everything replaced. Made sense to me and I got some value for my premiums that year.

Where did you get your bonnet protector

Hey BMKal, I noticed from the photo of your D4 that you have a bonnet protector. Can I ask where you got it from and did you have trouble fitting it ? I went to a Land Rover dealer and asked for a D3 bonnet protector, because I had been told they also fitted a D4. BUT the spare parts guy said they have different fitting clips and wouldn't attach properly to a D4.

    Any help appreciated.

I got mine from the LR dealership that I bought the vehicle from in Perth. I have since bought a spare one (they told me at the time that it was the last one in stock, but I would expect that they should still have them as it is still a current model vehicle). Spare is sitting in a box up in the roof of the shed in case I need it one day.

Note - you can't buy them black. They are only available as clear units. To make it black if you want to, mask around the edges and spray paint the INSIDE - I used a satin black spray paint. Fitting the bonnet protector is about a five minute job - all you need is a philips head screwdriver (no different to just about any other car I've ever fitted one to).

As far as I'm aware, there would be no difference at all between the D3 and D4. Pretty sure that the bonnets are identical (I'll stand corrected if somebody knows better). LR Part number for the bonnet (hood) is BKA780040 for both D3 and D4, so I really don't see why there would be any difference in bonnet protectors.
    Cheers .........

Thanks BMKal. Other people have told me the bonnet protectors for D4 are the same for D3's. By your picture I assume yours is a D4 ? If so, I'll just go and buy one any way from Land Rover spare parts and give it a go. I do a bit of highway driving and don't want chips on the front of the bonnet
