Smile Servicing of Disco 3

Hi Other Disco owners,
Just a quick question to ask if anyone knows of and can recommend a reliable, well equipped service centre for Discovery 3, that is NOT a Land Rover dealer in the Brisbane area?
I am now out of warranty and getting very tired of paying for the unnecessaries and the pettiness of those anal retentive at Land Rover.

There a few places on the web which I have not yet contacted, as I thought something like this comes better from word of mouth. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers V8 Disco

P.S. Just realised I need to update my profile pic to the D3!

I can recommend Paul from Rovercare 6 Monte St Slacks Creek on 3209-1970. Not sure what it'd cost $256 from the previous post sound like a bargain, must've to supply own oils, filters, etc ?

Servicing of Disco 3

Gday...

Slightly off topic (coz it ain't near Brisvegas) ... but I just had my 96,000km service at Bundaberg Land Rover (against advice from this forum ) ... and it cost $315.
I was satisfied with the service (staff etc as well as to vehicle) and I found out that, whilst their trained mechanic is well versed in his job, he is the only one who really knows much about LRs.
The Service Mgr freely admitted that he did not know anything about LRs - they rely on the kid who has been trained to service.
Not sure I would recommend them unless it was for no more than a standard service which is unlikely to have anything extra.
Cheers
John

I would almost say that is too cheap - normal cost is between $700 - $800.

2.5 hours labour - $250 - $400
Oil Filter $20
Fuel Filter $ 90
Pollen Filter $ 40
Air Filter if required $40
Oil $100
Bits and pieces $10-$20

On the price you were charged I would be concerned that they left things out of the service.

Thumbs up

Many Thanks for the intros, names and numbers. My 108,000 service is due next and it is only a minor service (oil & filters etc) according to the service schedule I picked up somewhere from this site but will definitely try these recommendations. As someone who can do their own servicing , I recently rang around Perth for a Filter Kit for my TDV6 . Prices ranged from $285 , up to $395 from the stealers .This was for the 4 filters , Fuel, air, oil, and pollen ,with sump plug and Fuel filter bracket . I then came across a mob on Ebay that was selling exactly the same kit for $150 !! The only difference in the Kit was that the stealers claim that there pollen filter was a activated charcoal type , and thats if you actually ask for it !! So add in the 5W30 Synth for $72 (6 litres ) from local KMART > So Total cost to me $220 plus 1 to2 hours of my own sweat.(oops ,fergot the Hydrocarbon Disposal Levy $5 for 20 litres)

Fourx4 in Kotara sell a filter kit for $165 for the TDV6 doesn't have a fuel filter bracket - i don't think there is one from late 06 on. It is a charcoal pollen filter.
