    Oh well!
    I'm back with an update.
Had the car in the shop under warranty getting them to fix the shuddering in the transmission.
I asked them directly to change the Torque Converter and change out the fluid.
They told me that it won't be the TC and so they overhauled the Transfer Box.
Got the car back and hey guess what. It's still shuddering.
It's going back in the shop again.
    Grrrrrrrr.

I guess they didn't take it for a drive then, just assumed they had fixed it.

Doesn't anyone test drive cars anymore

I certainly hope you are not paying for this transfer case.

The methodology of D3 mechanics seems to be - don't bother diagnosing the issue - just replace parts until the issue is fixed and charge the customer for all this gear that is not actually needed.

Actually, they claim to have driven it before and after the repair.
They claim they couldn't replicate the problem after the repair. Took me a day and it started shuddering.
It actually is a little better than before but it seems to be getting worse with every day that I drive up my 40 degree hill.

No I didn't pay for it because it's still under warranty.
So I sure as hell hope they fix it before the warranty runs out. I'll be knocking on their door even if they don't.

I am amazed that they overhauled the Transfer.
Bottom line, when the auto starts suddering, the TC has degenerated in most instances and starts heating up.
It will affect in some instances under load the rev range of the engine, as it putting pressure on the TC.
Talking from experience, our local dealership said it was not the TC, and advised to overhaul or replace auto trans.
    Yeah, $7,500 + , l need a second opinion.
I went to a local auto trans specialist, and he drove the car as said, yes it is a TC straight up.
Was fixed quickly and for significantly less money.
Absolutely no further issues to report, and very smooth power etc.

One last bit of advise: Ensure when the TC is repaired, ensure that the auto trans pan/filter and fluid is changed.
Otherwise the metal material from the old TC will foul the filter, and will cause damage in time to the auto trans.
    Cheers Dave

Transfer box?? Wot tha?? Reckon you can trust them to fix the real problem?

Makes you shake your head and wonder.... I had stand up discussions with the 'head' mechanic in one of Adelaide's larger Land Rover yards and he too refused to accept this shudder was the auto... they even had the truck for a day and came up with "might be the ballasts.." and now they have closed down. Wonder why...

Still blows me away how those supposed to know, mostly don't.

Hope it gets sorted for you quick fella.

    Cheers.

The D3 is going in on Monday and hope to hell they get it right this time.
    Busman,
When you were having the shuddering problem, was it shuddering in each gear or only in 1 gear at a certain rpm and certain speed?

    Cheers,
