Do you know of any other changes to the 2012 model.

    Regards

    SE.

There were no cars available with my options, so had to go with 2012 model, which does cost $2300 more

From the price you mention, ~96k recommended retail price / 88k drive away, I assume you’re talking about the SE model. The current SE model, at least the one I was being shown, has manual front seats. There was no mention of what you say appears to be an interior equipment upgrade just around the corner during my conversation today.

I wonder if I'm being steered towards clearing existing stock? The drive away price being offered on existing stock for very similar specs - 3.0l, leather, rear locker plus Bi Xenon lights was only marginally less at 86k.

If it is a stock clearance pending a spec upgrade I don't necessarily mind provided it is priced accordingly but I would like full disclosure so I have an option to choose one or the other if I want it.

Can I ask what dealer you have dealt with?

Honestly, even the 2.7 only has it's match within the LR range, in either the D4 or RRS models.

An advantage of the 2.7, is the ability to fit 17" rims, if more serious outback travel is in your plans. That also means cheaper and more available suitable tyres.
I went in with full intention of buying the 2.7. My current tow car is a TDi V6 Toaureg. The 2.7 was very disappointing in acceleration and I think that towing our 3.5 tonne 7 metre horse trailer would be not as comfortable. It was my wife that pushed me towards driving the 3l.

I then drove the 3l. Not quite as quick as the Toaureg (not much in it) but it was a world apart. Toaureg is slightly lighter but gearbox has sport, normal and tiptronic, but abundance of torque on the disco saw it pull away without the need to kickback the cogs.

Once I spoke to Gordon from Green Oval Experience, i confirmed by purchase.....was very concerned about the 19's initially. I will purchase some 18's from Gordon later on with some better LT's to go on them.

Probably not in the 2.7L here. It does not exist in the UK market due to new euro emmissions regs; replaced by 210HP 3.0L.
Southerns had heard about this. But it aint in the 2012 model.....be nice if it did arrive with a 8 speed. Based on exchange rates the extra cost could be comfortably absorbed though.

Very interested/pleased to hear about the iPod connectivity in the 2012 model.

I wonder if that USB point on the standard sound system will put enough power through recharge the iPod/iPhone? It would be nice to save money on not buying the sound/satnav upgrade just to run my iPod. Having said when I thought I had to buy it, that the whole upgrade touch screen satnav sound system ackage was starting to sound cool

Southerns believe that it will charge the iPod/iPhone.
