Thread: after market / add-on reversing camera

Hi All

I'm looking at a 2012 d4 SE at the moment. It has an upgraded audio screen thing to the 7" touch screen, but does not have a reversing camera or GPS. I've search the forum, but been unable to find a answer - can I install a reversing camera myself to this screen? Is it a standard video RCA type connection, or does something special need to be done through the Can-bus?

I don't think there is enough known about the 2012 models for anyone to give you answer yet. I gather the screen has changed since the 2011 models. Mine is a SE 2011 with touch screen and GPS, there was no touch screen without GPS then.

I have fitted an after market camera to mine ex ebay. It has to be a NTSC camera (not PAL) for it to work (2011) and needs to be activated in the CCF by someone with a Faultmate or maybe the dealer (don't know if they can/will)

The feed is standard RCA in that it is 2 wires but the plug is not, I mocked mine up from a similar computer plug. There is a six pin plug in the back of the screen with inputs for the reverse cam, tv, and can't remember cam. I would think if the six pin connector is there you are on a winner?
