I have a fidge in my D3 HSE and it will turn itself on and off based on temp regardless of ignition. The only way to tell if it is operating is from the sound of the fan.
Gary, I got mine in the last round of orders as well. Only put in a few weeks ago, but find it reasonably handy.
FWIW mine turns off when I turn the car off, and only runs when the is running or with accessories on (I.e push start with out the foot on the break). Some suggest that this is not right and should run with the car off? I am not sure about that really. Rather the car started, unless someone can convince me that there is a Low Voltage Disconnect (LVD) in the power line to the cooler...?
As such , I am looking how to keep running with the car off for a while, as you are. I am planning to run some lines the duel battery system (again when I get around to ordering the Traxide system and installing), and potentially will tap into one of the Traxide system lines running to the new back power sockets. Just have to check that this ok? I don't think the cubby box fridge draws to much power and think the Traxide system will disconnect if the battery gets low? I need to go and have a closer look at the system really...
Alternatively I will run direct of the second battery with a LVD in the line....
Anyway, keen to hear of any other ideas.
Cheers

I've got mine running off the Aux battery with a seperate low voltage cutout , it's a variable one and have it set to 11v on 55ah battery. It seems to run all the time, I don't think it even has a thermostat and ceratinly does not have a low voltage cutout, above 10.5v at least.
I tested it with a cheapo clamp meter and it was drawing 3a constantly, so from that I think it may draw more that the 40l engle?
Anyhow I use it all the time, it fits the 500mm cans of imported beer great, not that I'm a fan of beer in cans (anymore) or imported beers for that matter. But 4 cans at 500ml fit perfect.

An expensive one here (seems so any way)

Also and ARRID one on the 12v Volt shop on line.
Search 'low voltage disconnect' or low voltage battery protection.
All seem about $60-$80 a unit
Thanks for the link but not interested in a low voltage cutout as this means, depending on battery voltage, the fridge could stay on for quite a long period of time. I was hoping for a switch that incorporates a timing mechanism that will turn the fridge off a set time after switched power is removed.
It would seem that such a switch is not available so I might have to change the power arrangement to switched power so it comes on and off with switched power.
Thanks
Garry
