Spoke to a dealer earlier this week. I was unable to get a definite answer however the following options were given:

    1. Detuned version of the 3.0l. They may also increase power on the existing 3.0l to increase the gap between the 2 engines

    2. Fit the diesel engine from the Evoque. Possibly with the 8 speed gearbox

    3. Do not replace it.

It will be interesting to see what LR decide.

It will be the 3.0 SDV6 six speed while the upgrade will be the 3.0 SDV6 8 speed.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

It was inevitable the 2.7 would eventually be dropped,as has happened in other markets.

Be very interesting to see prices. They can't drop the 3.0l prices to much unless a base model arrives,as existing 3.0l owners will not be happy.

Remember there has always been a 12 to 14k difference between the two different engined models.

What this may do is push the D4 further upmarket.

Anyway,we will have to wait & see..........

8speed... Bugger. Mine is only 14months old... Can't change yet. And planned this one would be good for 5 years at least....
Any chance of a new engine? ..may be TDV8 8speed? Because that would enough to sway me to make an early change, just have to start lobbing the Minister for Home Affairs (AKA SWMBO) a little earlier.

Engine change may be in the D5 if it comes?.

People say they don't like the Land Cruiser 8 speed because it is always changing gears on even the slightest of hills. So this may be one "improvement" that may be one to avoid, at least that's what I'm planning. My D4 is only 10 weeks!

Scarry there is a commercial model that is not distributed in Oz and there is still the base model which has only 5 seats and no leather trim. Was in the 70K range.

When dad came home from work the other day he told me that the 2.7 was taken off the system (you can't order them anymore), which made him happy as his work car (to be replaced in 4000km) is a 2.7 so he'll get a 3.0 then other than that i'm not sure what it's replacement will be, i wonder if they ahve a detuned 3.0 will it get 18 inch wheels or not, have to probe further.

I pick up my 2.7 tomorrow, the news my dealer told me is that no one knows yet, 8 speed not coming anytime soon to Aus, the pop up gear shifter also not on the short list as Aus buyers like a stick.

Last info was also wont be a disco under 90k until land rover decide what to do. Apparently, now news is out about the 2.7, sales have picked up, as it's only what stock is left, no forward orders now.

I saw a truck load leave Melbourne, all 2.7 stock. I'm glad I got in when I did. The 3.0l with options I wanted is out of my budget.

Yeah dad brought an Evoque demo home the other day to show us, and that gear thing is a bit of a gimminck, apparently customers either love it or hate it, just not for me, but then i have a 300tdi so what do i know about technology.
